It starts with food

Updated: May 31, 2022

We often forget that the food we eat is meant to nourish our body, heal our illnesses and prevent ill health. We were not designed to store or carry 10, 20, 30 or more kgs of body fat.

Our bodies were designed to store fat as a source of energy to get us through times of famine, not emotional hardship, boredom or neglect. I have been educating people on healthy eating now for over ten years and running weight loss programs for just as long. I love this work but struggle with the continual bad eating habits we have adapted over the past 10 years.

More importantly, our children are being deprived of natural food and nourishment. We are bombarded with media misinformation, celebrity chefs and bloggers dishing out new twists, silly information and generalised diets that work for a few but have no connection with you as an individual. This is why I have started the 'It Starts with Food program'.

We have some exciting plans to help all our clients over the next 12 months, so stay tuned as we roll out our program using food as medicine. Our program and information will be aimed at preventing ill heath as well as treating current every day health problems as wells as maintaining good health.

FOOD AS MEDICINE TIP!

Immune Health - with seasonal allergies beginning to appear and the last of the winter dry cough still on our door steps, it time to give the immune system a kick. This traditional tea contains lots of natural antioxidants, vitamin C and bioflavanoids. Make us 500 mls of black loose leaf organic tea and add 1 finely sliced unpeeled lemon, 1 finely sliced unpeeled orange and 1 tablespoon of finely grated fresh ginger. Make up a batch and drink over the day.

SPRING SEASONAL FRUIT & VEGETABLES! These great new season fruits and vegetables are now out. Add them to your shopping list over the next few weeks.

VEGETABLES - artichoke, asian greens, asparagus, broad beans, beetroot, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, chilli, garlic, lettuce, onion, peas, shallots, silverbeet, spinach.

FRUIT - apples, grapefruit, lemons, mandarin, orange, papaya, pawpaw, pineapple, strawberries.
